A Garden-Inspired Newborn Session in Sheridan, Wyoming

There are some newborn sessions that feel especially meaningful because of the thought that goes into every little detail. For this sweet baby girl’s newborn session, her parents knew they wanted to incorporate florals into her portraits. I absolutely had to deliver on that. They wanted something feminine and beautiful, but more importantly, they wanted the flowers to feel intentional. A little piece of the beauty and joy that surrounded her arrival.

So we set out to create something that felt like her.

I could have added a few flowers to the setup, but I took it a little further and found someone who could help us bring the parents' vision to life. We created a beautiful garden-inspired setting where their newborn could be photographed surrounded by soft florals and natural beauty.

The result was a newborn session that felt incredibly special and personal.

A Newborn Session Inspired by the Garden

I absolutely love when parents bring an idea to a newborn session that is uniquely theirs. Newborn photography doesn't have to look the same for every family. While some families prefer simple, minimalist portraits, others want to incorporate meaningful details, heirlooms, hobbies, colors, or elements from their home.

For this family, it was flowers.

The garden-inspired setting created such a beautiful backdrop for their baby girl's portraits. The florals added softness and texture while still allowing her tiny features, delicate hands, and sleepy expressions to remain the focus.

Creating Something That Feels Personal

One of my favorite parts of being a newborn photographer is that I don't believe your session needs to look exactly like anyone else's. Your baby is only this little once and your family has it’s own story. I believe your photographs should reflect that. For this session, the parents had a vision for incorporating florals into their daughter's portraits, and I loved being able to take that idea and turn it into something tangible.

Finding the right person to help create the floral elements made the entire session come together beautifully. It became more than simply photographing a newborn It’s almost like it became a little garden created especially for her.
